SOUTH CENTRAL WOMEN’S DAY 2026

16th May 2026 - from 10am to 4.30pm

St Mary's Church Maidenhead

Why Hebrews?

How do we keep going as Christians? There are times in the sin, the discomfort, the brokenness of the world where it seems so difficult to just put one foot in front of the other. There are other times when it seems like something else might help us more than keeping going with Christ.

Hebrews unveils a wonderful reality for us. It shows a truth we cannot see with our eyes but one that is exactly what we need every step of the way. Our perfect High Priest, Jesus, has done everything past, present and future to keep us going all the way home. Come along as we get to spend the day fixing our eyes on Him.

About the speaker

Kirsten Guthrie is from Northern Ireland but has lived over 25 years in London (that and a Scottish mum, is the reason for a slightly mixed accent!) She’s part of the church family at Trinity Church Islington and has spent the last 14 years there as Women’s Worker.

Since September 2024 she’s combined that with working at The Proclamation Trust as Assistant Director of Women’s Ministry. When she’s not working, she can often be found cycling, spending time with friends or entertaining godchildren.

Seminars

  1. TBA  Lindsey Reisser-Weston
Do you ever feel overwhelmed with so many responsibilities, holding it all together at work, home, and elsewhere?  The book of Haggai encourages us all to take stock.  What else does the Bible say that can help us manage competing priorities and find balance in our busy lives?
  2. TBAty Rachel Meynell
Christians live in this world-often sacrificially- with their eyes fixed on the next. Will it be worth it? What is so good about the world to come anyway? We will look at what the Bible says about Heaven and see how that impacts our lives day by day.
  3. TBAs Caroline West
The Old Testament prophets spoke into many different circumstances and over hundreds of years.  How do we tackle different styles and situations, plain speaking and prophetic visions and understand what God said to Israel and the other nations then, and what he’s saying to us in the 21st century? In this seminar we will try to think through some helpful tools to understand what the Lord is saying to us today through the Old Testament prophets because he IS speaking to us so we may know Him and be encouraged and persevere through his word.
  4. TBAs Julie Maxwell
A chance to gain a greater understanding of questions around gender in our society and to think about how as Christians we can love and support those who may be struggling themselves or who have family members who are struggling. What does it look like to genuinely love those who identify as transgender?
  5. TBAe Kirsty Birkett
Resilience is a quality that is much researched in psychology, but not as much talked about in biblical terms. Here we look at how the new psychology of resilience was actually in the Bible all along!
  6. TBA – Kate Wheatley
In this seminar we will look at how we can help our children to learn about God? How we can model and pass on our beliefs to them? We will also discuss whether we are responsible for our child’s faith or lack of it and try to dispel much of the guilt that many of us have as parents..
  7. TBAn Frankie Knight
Sometimes the Christian life can feel dull and difficult. Even though the Bible encourages us to rejoice, we don’t find that easy to do.  Come and consider how the wonderful realities of our salvation can sink deeper into our hearts so that joy is the outworking in our lives.
  8. TBAWeary and Heavy-Laden Annabel Heywood
This session is an opportunity to spend time in prayer. There will be a few prompts to help focus our thoughts, while giving space and time for personal prayer. E.g. reflecting on what we have heard, laying open our hearts before the Lord in a place that is free from the usual distractions of everyday life.
