SOUTH CENTRAL WOMEN’S DAY 2026
16th May 2026 - from 10.00am to 4.30pm
St Mary's Church Maidenhead
Why Hebrews?
How do we keep going as Christians? There are times in the discomfort, the sin, the brokenness of the world where it seems so difficult to just put one foot in front of the other. There are other times when it seems like something else might help us more than keeping going with Christ.
Hebrews unveils a wonderful reality for us. It shows a truth we cannot see with our eyes but one that is exactly what we need every step of the way. Our perfect High Priest, Jesus, has done everything past, present and future to keep us going all the way home. Come along as we spend the day fixing our eyes on Him.
About the speaker
Kirsten Guthrie is from Northern Ireland but has lived over 25 years in London (that and a Scottish mum, is the reason for a slightly mixed accent!) She’s part of the church family at Trinity Church Islington and has spent the last 14 years there as Women’s Worker.
Since September 2024 she’s combined that with working at The Proclamation Trust as Assistant Director of Women’s Ministry. When she’s not working, she can often be found cycling, spending time with friends or entertaining godchildren.
Seminars
- Running with Endurance: Bible Reading and Prayer – Frankie Knight
Making time daily to read the Bible and pray is one of the ways we will endure in the Christian life. However, we all know how hard that can be. We can easily slip out of the habit or not know where to start. Whether you’re a struggling old-timer or young beginner, come along for practical help and encouragement to read the Bible and pray! - Endurance on the Long Road: Walking with Hope in the Addiction Journey – Sally Childress
This seminar explores endurance in the long journey of addiction/life-controlling issues—for both those who struggle and those who walk alongside them. Most of us find ourselves in either one/or both of these categories at times. It offers a gracious, realistic understanding of why change often takes time, and why perseverance matters even when progress feels slow. Together we will also consider how to begin honest, compassionate conversations about addiction within families and churches, helping create safer spaces for hope, understanding, and ongoing support. - Running with Endurance in our Work: The rat race or the race of faith? – Louise Drake
Work is good. God created us in his image to be workers, and work ‘places’ (whether physical or virtual, in or out of the home) provide unique opportunities to honour God and bless others. Yet in different ways in different settings, there will be work-related pressures and priorities that entangle our hearts and hinder our witness. Join this session to fix our eyes on Jesus and discern how He might be calling each of us to throw off something that is holding us back from running with joyful endurance in our work. - Running with Endurance whilst Parenting Teenagers – Julie Maxwell
Parenting (or working with) teenagers can often be portrayed in a negative way and as something that just needs to be endured! This seminar will be an opportunity to consider some of the encouragements and challenges that come with parenting teenagers. We will look at how God’s word can equip and encourage us to be faithful as we raise the next generation. - Running with endurance: How do I Understand the NT Letters – Caroline West
Do you ever get that feeling that you are lost in a NT letter and not sure what it means, and how it applies to you today? You feel you are running through mud and getting caught up in confusion. In this seminar we will look together at some helpful tools to understand what the Lord is saying to us today through the letters because he IS speaking to us so we may know Him and be encouraged and run with endurance as we delight in His word. Approaching God’s Throne of Grace– Zannah Kearns– SEMINAR FULL _ No More Bookings
Receive God’s grace and mercy to sustain you in your race.
This quiet seminar offers space to reflect on the morning’s teaching and to approach God’s throne of grace with all that’s on your heart. We’ll begin with a short introduction, then keep the remainder of the time for personal prayer.Building an Accessible Culture – Triona BradingSEMINAR FULL _ No More Bookings –
An introduction to accessibility and belonging within the church. With growing awareness of such a broad spectrum of disability and difference, how can we know where to begin in making our churches a place that everyone can access and belong? We will explore the theology of disability inclusion, consider practical accommodations and adaptations for a variety of experiences and have a chance for Q&A.- Friendships that help us to the Finish Line – Sharon Bedford
Christian friendship can be a source of great blessing and encouragement yet many find church friendships tricky or even elusive. In this session on friendship we will explore what Biblical friendship looks like, discuss some of the barriers to relational connection and find out how we can both extend friendship to and accept friendship from our fellow Christians. - Running with Endurance: Using my Gifts and Serving – Annabel Heywood
This seminar is to help us think about the gifts, and the opportunities to serve, that God gives us: What is our attitude towards them, what are the gifts and opportunities for, how we might use them, when might we use them? What does it mean to run with endurance in this aspect of our lives?
